Weekend in London

Yankee and I recently spent a weekend in London. On Saturday we saw David Schwimmer in the play 'Some Girl(s).' The play was just OK, but it was pretty cool seeing 'Ross' up-close in person.

On Sunday we visited Buckingham Palace and the Diamond Exhibit at the Natural History Museum. At Buckingham Palace we toured the Queen's Gallery, The Royal Mews and the State Rooms. The Queen's Gallery collection includes paintings by Rembrandt and Vermeer, among others. At the Royal Mews we were able to see an impressive collection of cars and carriages. However, my favorite thing at Buckingham Palace was the grounds. As you can see from the pictures below it was absolutely beautiful.

The Diamond Exhibit at the Natural History Museum was quite extensive. My favorite thing was an exhibit of colored diamonds called The Aurora Collection. It is a private collection of 296 naturally colored diamonds. The diamonds are arranged together in one case. The exhibit shows how many of the stones glow under ultraviolet light. Simply amazing. Unfortunately cameras were not allowed in the exhibit.
